New multi-channel digital matrix series from Smart-e solve integration problems
Smart-e has broadened its digital matrix offerings by launching a new series of professional Digital Modular Matrices (DMM) that overcome a vast array of integration problems, from legacy equipment to mixed signal formats.
Ideal for a wide range of multi-channel signal switching and distribution for commercial and educational environments, the SDX series distributes signals over a single 100m CAT5-8 cable, and houses various input/output blades giving installers/users the flexibility to design their own matrix to meet specific requirements.
As Smart-e’s managing director and founder Jon Lane explains “Each matrix chassis has multiple slots allowing for input and output blades. This approach provides exceptional flexibility, offering a range of blade options making the matrix suitable for many applications and environments. This flexibility has the additional benefit of increasing product lifespan as the matrix can be re-deployed for alternative purposes simply by changing the I/O blades, likewise, maintenance is reduced with the ability to readily swap and exchange blades.”
Sizes start with the SDX-8x8 (8 inputs x 8 outputs), SDX-16x16 (16 input x 16 outputs) and SDX-32x32 (32 inputs x 32 outputs), with other options available up to a massive 288 inputs x 288 outputs.
Fully HDCP compliant and incorporating enhanced EDID management the matrices are capable of selecting, for example, between 8, 16 or 32 different devices to 8, 16 or 32 displays for HDMI, DVI, DP++, HDBaseT and 3G-SDI together with single mode fibre connections. Control options include IP, RS232 or from the front panel. Legacy products are catered for with analogue input cards capable of accepting RGBHV, YPrPb, Y/C and PAL/NTSC all of which can be up-scaled to 1080p resolution.
